Today is a reflection day.
The Lord our God is the place to turn for our safety and security. Consider these words:
The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe. (Proverbs 18:10)
Prominent is the image of a “strong tower,” a fortress built for protection with high and thick walls, a strong gate, an armed garrison and vigilant lookouts. All who are inside know they are safe and sound. A nuance here – it is the Name of the Lord which is the strong tower. The Biblical concept of a name is that it is not just a locator address, but that one’s name encompasses all of his or her identity, character and history. There is safety in our Lord because of who He is, what He has said, and what He has done. Finally, it is the righteous one who runs to the strong tower. We are only made righteous by the blood of Jesus. If you know Him, you need never lack for safety and security – as long as you remain in Him.
