Good morning!
Text: Hebrews 4-6; Psalm 25
Speaking of Jesus who came, lived, died, rose and has now gone on ahead of us to the right hand of the Father, Hebrews 6:19 says these words:
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…”
Jesus’ completed work on our behalf and His promise to come back and take us to be with Him forever, is like an anchor of the soul. What is spoken of here is the steadfast promise of our resurrection, eternal life, and physical presence with the Living God. Our hope is hope secured by the fact the God is faithful (so it is a sure thing) – and it is a “sure and steadfast anchor for the soul.” Steadfast, this anchor will not slip ground. It holds us fast and firm. No matter how strong the stormy gales might blow, our connection to Jesus and His promise will never, ever give way. I am so grateful for this truth. Even today I am buffeted by the storms of life. It is so wonderful to know that my Jesus has me held safe and firm. How about you?
in Him, Mike
p.s. I cannot but want to sing these words, the second verse of “The Solid Rock.”
When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
