Good morning.
Text: Exodus 32-34; Proverbs 6
Moses has an incredible relationship with the Lord. They speak with one another as Moses enjoys His very presence. In Exodus 33, Moses asks the Lord to show him His glory. The Lord says He will, and then says these words:
“…But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by.” (Exodus 33:20-22)
Remember the old Hymn, “Rock of Ages”? It speaks of how Jesus is the “rock of ages, cleft for me.” Consider the Lord’s words to Moses. “There is a place by me where you will stand on the rock.” When we stand on the rock of Jesus, we are able to stand near to God. And see how the Lord places Moses in the cleft of the rock that he might not be destroyed by God’s very presence? Jesus died on the cross – He was cleft” – for us so that we might be able to be in God’s presence despite our sin. God is so good to us! He has placed us in Jesus, and thus made it possible for us to behold His glory.
I hope you know Jesus and are standing upon The Rock!
in Him, Mike
