Text: Job 13-15; Psalm 122
It is such a blessing and privilege to be able to gather with our brothers and sisters in Christ and worship Him. The portraits of worship in heaven show us angelic beings calling to one another “Holy, holy, holy…” (Isaiah 6). Their encouragement of one another multiples the glory given to God. That happens to us when we worship together. Jesus told us that whenever two or more gather in His name, He is there in our midst (Matthew 18:20). That happens when we worship together when He mysteriously opens a portal and closes the gulf between our worship gathering and the very throne room of God. Wow! Consider these words from Psalm 122:1 – words of anticipation before worship:
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
So – time for a challenge: What is my heart like on Sunday morning before heading out for church? Am I looking froward to being together with my church family to encourage them and to be encouraged by them? Am I excited to be in the very presence of our Lord Jesus? Am I expecting to meet Him there? Am I awed that Jesus will actually show up?
in Him, Mike
