Text: Job 10-12; Psalm 121
In Job 12, we read a lengthy treatise on God’s sovereignty. He is in charge – of everything. On this date, September 11, Job 12:23 captured my attention:
He makes nations great, and he destroys them;
he enlarges nations, and leads them away.
A few days ago, I heard a man say this: “When we say the Pledge of Allegiance and utter those words, ‘One nation, under God,” we are acknowledging that our land is under Gods judgment.” That is a grave idea today – as we see the moral decay of our nation’s culture… the immorality, violence, angry discourse, deceit, materialism, and lack of virtue that seem to abound ever more. Our nation was founded upon God’s Law and the grace of Jesus. It is God who made our nation great. And God, as our judge, would be justified to bring destruction, even this day.
How to respond? Be the Church He has called us to be. Love Jesus and love people. Be the light on the hill. Pray… and perhaps God will send His Spirit in a fresh way and heal our land.
inn Him, Mike
