Text: Jeremiah 28-30; Isaiah 20
When Jeremiah prophesies of the Babylonian captivity in Chapter 29, he tells the people that it will be long – so the ought to settle in and live the best they are able. He tells them to pray for the city of their captivity, “for in its welfare you will find your welfare” (29:7). He also encourages them that the captivity will indeed end and the His plans are for their good… so they should have hope (29:11). Throughout, it is the prayer life of God’s people that is their lifeline. A promise for you and me today is found in 29:13:
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
What a focus for our prayer life – that we simply seek HIM – rather than answers to our questions or healing or stuff. Just to seek the Lord and His face, knowing that we will indeed find Him. Oh, that we might simply be all-out, all-in, and with-all-our-heart seekers of the Living God.
in Him, Mike
