Text: 1 John 1-3; Isaiah 30
The short book of 1 John is a delight, full of challenge and great encouraging truth. Consider 1 John 3:18:
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
Pretty simple, isn’t it? What matters is not what you say, but what you do. Walking the walk trumps talking the talk. Love, the sort Jesus calls us to, is not a feeling but a commitment. It yields choices and actions that always serve the best interest of others, even when they deserve it the least and even at great personal cost. The cross of Calvary is the glorious example of such love for us.
So – feeling blessed to have received such love? I am. Feeling challenged about how to love one another? I am.
in Him, Mike
