Good morning!
Text:  Lamentations 3-5; Isaiah 29.
The painful book of Lamentations ends with these words:

21 Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may be restored!
Renew our days as of old—
22 unless you have utterly rejected us,
and you remain exceedingly angry with us.

This final plea for deliverance is accompanied by acknowledgement of God’s sovereignty.  Pride and self sufficiency give rise to sin – and ugly consequences.  Surrender and humility before the Lord lead to redemption.  These two verses speak of a heart of humility, a heart that is right before God.  When Jeremiah was publicly read, verse 21 was customarily repeated after verse 22. No matter how bleak things may seem, for those who seek the Lord in humility, there is always, always hope.
