Good morning!
Text: Ezekiel 35-38; Psalm 130-141
Today’s Ezekiel text has the prophet turning his attention to the future beyond God’s judgments upon Israel and the nations, and the text is rich.  A powerful image for us all is found in chapter 36:

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.(Ez 36:26-27)

Humans are a mess.  Their hearts are hard, filled with folly and rebellion, indifferent to God, prone to violence and hideously selfish.  Hearts of stone.  But our great and kind God is actually capable of heart transplants.  If you are a born again Christian, you have received such.  The old has gone, the new has come, and we have hearts now indwelt by God’s Holy Spirit.  We have hearts inclined toward the Lord and not away, and capable of doing great things as He works in and through us.
Here is an additional encouraging thought:  There are folks around us, the ones we love, who yet have hearts of stone. God can also do for them the miracle we have received.  So, pray for them with great expectations.
in Him, Mike
