Text: Daniel 4-6; Psalm 144
Daniel in the lion’s den is a familiar story, and shares a common theme with several other stories in Daniel. God calls His own people to live for Him – often at odds with the surrounding culture. Sometimes, our walk of faith takes us to scary places like the lion’s den. A verse that caught my underline in this story comes at the conclusion. After Daniel’s night with the lions, the kings discovers that Daniel is all right. Daniel 6:23 says;
Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
The key phrase here is, “because he had trusted in his God.” That is key to every single risk we take to serve the Lord. When we are threatened or in fear, we must trust the Lord. It is simple… but often not easy. Is there some challenge in your life today? Has God asked you to do something the world around you will disapprove? Trust in Him, and “no kind of harm” will be found on you.
