Good morning!

Text: John 19-21; Psalm 142
At the close of John’s Gospel, there is a beautiful scene where Jesus restores Peter. Three times, Peter had denied Jesus just before Jesus’ death, and after Jesus’ resurrection, Peter is given the chance to affirm his love for Jesus three times.  Jesus then tells Peter to “Follow me.”  Peter then notices John nearby, and this exchange follows:

When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” (John 21:21-22)

Each of us have been called by Jesus to follow Him.  Our walk with Him is very personal, and it is our individual responsibility.  Simply put, our focus is to be on Jesus and on Jesus alone.  During my college years I rowed crew.  When eight of us were rowing the same long, skinny boat we were taught to keep our eyes on the center line of the boat. To glance aside at the competition was to upset the balance and rhythm of the crew – it was to lose.  So, believer, keep your eyes on Jesus.  Keep your eyes in the boat.
