Good morning!
Text:  Ephesians 4-6; Proverbs 24:1-22
These three chapters in Ephesians are a great synopsis of what the Christian life is to be.  Notice that it begins with our fellowship together as we live with humility, gentleness, patience, love, unity and peace (4:1-3).  Then, we find many clear instructions about how we must live.  The ending, the finale, teaches that we are in a dangerous and serious spiritual war, and to put on the full armor of God.  The capstone of our assignment is that we must be,
…praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. (6:18).

My pastor friends and I share a common observation that it is very difficult to get people to come out for prayer.  The reason is that prayer is the core activity by which we advance the Kingdom into enemy territory.  It is by prayer that we actually access the power we need to stand against the forces of evil.  I recently heard it said that prayer is the only place where we are able to consciously experience the unseen realm – where the real important battles are being fought. The enemy understands this too well, and he uses all of his very best craft to keep Christians from praying together.  He knows that when we do, he will be defeated.

Oh that God’s people would be eager to gather for prayer.  Oh that we would be as dangerous as that.
in Him, Mike
