Good morning!

Text:  Numbers 11-14; Psalm 31
In Numbers 13-14 we read the account of twelve Israelite spies being sent into the promised land. Ten of the scouts see a fearsome and foreboding place, but two – Joshua and Caleb – see the land through the lens of God’s promise.  The Lord had promised the people the land, and these two believe him.  Accordingly, they see the dangers as inconsequential.  The Lord says these words:

But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it.  (Numbers 14:24)

As followers of Jesus, having received Him by faith, we have the Holy Spirit within us.  Unbelievers do not.  We have a “different spirit.”  The Holy Spirit in fact allows us to see things through the lens of God’s promises, just like Caleb.  We need never fear when we are walking in the light of what God has promised.  So, how about it?  Given that you have a “different spirit”, what is there to fear?
