Good morning!
Text: Hebrews 11-13; Psalm 27
The closing chapter of Hebrews has a number of exhortations to us all as we live the Christian life. Our lives as those who are spiritually alive include remarkable spiritual elements. Those who are “born again” as Christians have spiritual life while all others are in fact spiritually dead (check out Ephesians 2:1-7). Consider Hebrews 13:2….
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Yesterday a friend of mine recounted how he, as a young man, was in a tractor trailer accident in a snowstorm in upstate New York. His partner was seriously hurt while my friend just had cuts and bruises. They called for help and a stranger who identified himself as responding to that call arrived who drove them to the hospital. Afterward, when my friend sought to find the man to thank him, there was no record of his existence. My friend believes the man was, indeed, an angel – an angel that had saved his partner’s life.
.
So- what do you think? Is it possible the Lord would use an angel in your life? Of course it is! And it is also possible that we might be completely “unawares.” And the point of Hebrews 13:2 is that any “random” stranger in your path might in fact be an angel sent by God to touch our lives. That says that encounters with strangers are never to be taken lightly. Amen!
in Him, Mike
