Good morning!

Text:  Galatians 4-6; Psalm 39
Galatians 5 makes a strong appeal to us, as Christians, to live our lives under the leading of the Holy Spirit rather than following our “flesh.”  We are offered the stark contrast between the unpleasant results of letting our urges control us and the beautiful, nine-fold fruit of the Spirit.  The appeal concludes with these words:

“If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25)

When I was in the military and we were marching as a unit, one of our regular routes took across a bridge over a creek.  The bridge was built to support two lanes of highway traffic.  But when we walked across, we were ordered to “break step” rather than to march in step with one another.  The reason was that, when we were in step, we could generate enough impact to damage or even collapse a bridge.
Galatians 5:25 tells us that we are to “keep in step with the Spirit.” When we do, the movements of our lives are aligned with the very Spirit of the Living God.  That aligns us with His good and perfect will, and also lines us up with His power.  That power created the universe and raised Jesus up from the dead.  The Spirit is not far away.  He dwells right within us as believers.  Do you know Him?  Do you seek Him?  Do you walk in step with Him?
in Him, Mike
