Good morning!
Text: Revelation 13-14; Isaiah 62
Dawn on Christmas Eve brings a day that will conclude with joyous worship. It has been a season of many special and extra activities and events, a time of busy and overcrowded schedules. As I encounter Isaiah 62 this day, I am brought to consider verses 6-7:
6 On your walls, O Jerusalem,I have set watchmen;all the day and all the nightthey shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest,7 and give him no restuntil he establishes Jerusalemand makes it a praise in the earth.
This is a picture of relentless prayer – prayer that “shall never be silent.” Imagine prayer so fervent that we give the Lord “no rest.” I
In these verses I am hearing Him speak to me. I need to refresh my commitment to prayer. I need to set aside time for serious prayer even now – at the start of a busy day. Martin Luther is quoted as saying of a busy day, ““I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.”
