Text: Nehemiah 4-7; Psalm 119:1-16
Psalm 119 is remarkable. it is comprised of twenty-two stanzas each eight verses long. in each stanza, every line begins with the same Hebrew letter, stepping through all of twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Throughout, this Psalm celebrates the supremacy of God’s Word. Consider 119:11:
I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
God’s Word is like an antibody for sin. If it His Word is in our hearts, courses through our veins, then the infection of sin can neither get established nor thrive. It makes sense to inoculate ourselves with the Word. How does that work? Read it. Lots. Meditate upon it. Lots. And memorize it. Lots. I bet that last one got someone’s attention… because it got mine.
