lightning
Good morning!
Text:  Matthew 23-25;  Psalm 67
In these chapters of Matthew, Jesus teaches about the end of this world, His glorious return, and the judgment to come.  It sounds like things will become very tumultuous as the end approaches.  We do not understand the degree of which He speaks, but the trend in today’s world certainly seems in line with what Jesus says to expect.  One point He makes several times is that when the end comes it will be abrupt and sweeping. Consider…
For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. (Matthew 24:27)
The other night we had some lightning.  I had left the drapes in the bedroom open (on purpose – I’m a weather geek).  When the storms came and I awoke, I could not see the actual lightning bolts, but the flashes illuminating the clouds and the terrain were instant and brilliant, and everywhere at once.  When Jesus comes it will be the same – instant, brilliant and all at once.  There will be no warning, no hiding, no running away.  For the believers, it will be wonderful and glorious.  For the rest, it will be awful.
So…. are we ready?  Have we done all the work He has appointed for us?
in Him, Mike
