Good morning!

Text: Colossians 2;  1 Chronicles 17-18

Under normal circumstances, this is the time of year for our church picnic and baptisms for some believers in the lake  The pandemic has us on hold for now, but it is always a thrill to celebrate new life in Jesus!

…having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.  (Colossians 2:12)

When we come to faith in Jesus, we get a new life.  In doing so, we leave our old life behind, in effect dying just as Jesus did on the cross.  And then, just like Jesus, we rise to a new life – immortal and in Christ.  In this Word today, our resurrection is spoken of in the past tense, as if it has already happened.  That’s because our new life is real, it is now, and our future bodily resurrection is absolutely certain.  Our new life comes forth by the same power that brought Jesus back from the dead.  What promise, what hope for these troubled times!

in Him, Mike
