Today is a reflection day.
In yesterday’s meditation I mentioned how rich 2 Timothy is. Here is another verse, 1:7:
…God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
Fearful about anything? That fear is not from any spirit that God gave you. But the antidote for the fear is indeed ours from God. We have access in Christ to limitless power over anything we might fear. His love in us is perfect, and “casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). And when are afraid, we need that self-control to not give in to the fear (a.k.a. “courage”), and we have that as well. All these are from the Lord – so the obvious question when we are afraid is this; “In your fear, have you drawn close to the Lord?”
