Good morning!
Text: Job 34-36; Isaiah 7
When I think I understand God, that I have a handle on him, I need to be cautioned by words like these:
Behold, God is great, and we know him not;
the number of his years is unsearchable. (Job 36:26)
The greatness of God is both qualitative and quantitative. He is great and good, and He is great and eternal. We must never underestimate either dimension. I am so grateful that He has revealed Himself as He has – by His Son Jesus, by His Word and by His Spirit whom is with us. We know of His great goodness by His love expressed in the Gospel. And we know of His grandeur by the complexity and beauty of creation. But we must never think that we fully “get” Him. As it is written here, “we know Him not.” He is just too “other”, too big and too good. God is Great!
in Him, Mike
