Good morning!
Text: Job 28-30; Isaiah 5
In Job 28, an image of mining for precious metals is brought – a picture of men digging, searching, seeking. Then, abruptly, questions:
But where shall wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding? (Job 28:12)
That is a pretty good question, especially when we are lost, confused, or trapped and need to know what to do next. Indeed, Job answers the questions, in verses 23 and 28:
God understands the way to it,
and he knows its place….‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’
The most precious thing for us to seek is the wisdom of God – who He is, what He has said, what are His ways. And to open the mine shaft that will yield His wisdom in our lives, we must start by fearing God and turning from evil. The riches of the Lord’s wisdom and understanding thus become ours.
