Good morning!
Text: Job 19-21; Isaiah 2
The prophet Isaiah speaks truth to the sin of the people of ancient Israel, warning of judgment. At the same time, he speaks of the beautiful promise of God of a coming time of peace and joy – the ever after.
He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore. (Isaiah 2:4)
Our world is a violent place. Of 163 nations in the world today, only a handful are not involved in any armed conflict. The promise of God is a very different world, one where war is unknown. And we have that promise today. It will come to pass when Jesus establishes His Kingdom and reign… Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Oh, for that day!
