Good morning!
Text: 2 Chronicles 1-4; Psalm 102
The Psalms are remarkable literature. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, they are honest and godly words spoken right back to the Lord. If we want to know what Spirit-filled prayer looks like, all we need to do is look to the Psalms. Psalm 102 opens with these words:
Hear my prayer, O Lord;
let my cry come to you!
Have you ever been there? Afflicted, anguished, maybe with emotion so strong you do not know how to begin? These words are the right ones; “Let my cry come to you!” He is always there, ever present. He loves us, cares for us, and has told us to come to Him “boldly” (check out Hebrews 4:16). When we are in great distress, there is no need to wait to calm down, no need to craft some eloquent words, no need to do anything but cry out to our good and great God. Simple, honest, dependent and humble – that is the sort of prayer life we can and should have.
