Text: Galatians 4; 2 Kings 15-16
God’s plan of redemption is perfect in every way.
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. (Galatians 4:4-5)
Even the timing of Jesus’ arrival on earth as a man was perfect. The Jews had been oppressed by foreign empires for centuries, and many were thirsting for the Messiah’s arrival. The rise of Greek culture several hundred years earlier had spread the knowledge of the Greek language far and wide. And of all languages, written Greek has a unique richness of vocabulary and grammar so that God’s truth might be captured in Scripture – God’s Word for us all. And most everyone knew Greek among all the various tribes and tongues of the civilized world. And the Romans had established social order, trade, roads and security – the “pax Romana” – that would allow the apostles of Jesus to travel everywhere easily, freely and in safety as they spread the Gospel. Jesus came at the perfect time – the perfect Savior, the perfect King, the perfect Plan. Hallelujah!
in Him, Mike
