Text: Galatians 3; 2 Kings 13-14
Every morning when we get up, we usually start the day by getting dressed for work or chores, for fun or worship – whatever is on tap for the day ahead.
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27)
Paul, the author of Galatians, uses the picture of putting on clothes to describe how we welcome Jesus and the good things He has for us into our lives. The fact of the matter for the Christian is that we are always clothed with Jesus Christ. If we have come to faith and been placed in Him, we “have” put on Christ. Our dress for the day, every day, is Jesus. An old proverb says,”clothes make the man…” or, as Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet, “The apparel oft proclaims the man.” Today it is good to remember that however we feel, whatever our tasks for the day, we are in Christ… and we ought to look like it.
