Good morning!

Text:  2 Corinthians 1-3; Psalm 112

I underlined a whole bunch of our 2 Corinthians text today.  It is rich and full.  For instance, did you know that we smell like Jesus, and to some people we smell nice and to others, stinky like something dead (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)?  No wonder, as Christians, not everyone wants to be our friend.  Who wants a smelly friend?

The particular verse that spoke to me in a fresh way is 1:11:

“You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.”

It is very cool to be part of a praying church.  I frequently get requests which I can share with many of you.  The words of this text tell us how that brings blessing.  When a lot of us pray, we all get to participate in what God is up to.  We speak to Him about the matter we all share in, and then he answers.  When He does, we all get to see it. What’s more, we can all say “I was there, I had a role.”  This is the blessing of sharing our prayer life.  It is why we encourage folks to let us know what we can pray for.  It is also why we gather in groups to pray.  It is what we do at Tuesday night prayer meetings, and before various meetings, and in one another’s homes.  The Word says, “You also must help us in prayer.”  It sounds like a commandment, and it is.  But is a great and wondrous blessing.  Thanks to all of you who share and pray.

in Him,  Mike
