Text: Romans 15 (1 Samuel 25-26)
In chapter 15 of Romans, an expression repeats itself; “…the God of…”. In 15:5 He is the “God of endurance and encouragement.” In 15:13 He is the “God of hope.” And, in 15:33 He is the “God of peace.” Consider the opposites of these words. In turn, they are “fatigue”, “discouragement”, “despair” and “strife.” What a list of common afflictions in the life of every Christian. How often do we struggle with these? Is my experience it can seem like all of the time. The great news here is that our great God is the One who brings us deliverance from such afflictions.
He strengthens us that we might endure. He encourages us. He is our Hope! And He will bring us peace. It is worth a pause to look ahead at Romans 16:20; “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” Our ultimate peace will come on the other side of a great battle and a victorious moment when Satan is once and for all destroyed. Until that day, may we be found strong, encouraged, hopeful and obedient to our conquering King. Amen.
