Good morning!
Text:  1 Corinthians 16;  1 Kings 3-4
I have been involved in men’s ministry for many years.  Just for today’s devotional, I want to address the men (ladies, please read this… and pray for the men).  A pair of verses that are especially encouraging to Christian men are these:

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.  Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

These words are simple and straightforward.  To “be watchful” we must understand our duty to protect those with whom God has charged us as leaders, husbands, fathers and brothers.  We must be on guard, knowing that the enemy will bring temptations, discouragement, fear, doubt and laziness.   To “stand firm” means to refuse compromise, to be willing to fight, to stay standing upon the high ground, and to be resolute.  To “act like men” calls us to the distinct calling God has given to us as men.  We are to refuse passivity, to accept responsibility, to lead courageously and to always seek God’s greater reward.  To “be strong” calls us to the spiritual disciplines to get strong and to stay strong .  To do it all “in love” is plainly stated, but every man needs to understand that he is called to the extraordinary standard to love like Jesus – fully, unconditionally, and sacrificially.
The Church and the world around us needs Kingdom Men.  May the Lord press these words into our hearts.
in Him, Mike
