Text: Romans (1 Samuel 1-2)
In Romans 3 an emphatic argument is made:
“…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
To sin is to rebel against God, to fail to meet God’s standard, to “fall short.” And we all do. Every single one of us – even “innocent” little children and the kindest of goodly folk. Sinners – all. Those who believe otherwise are deceived. In our world, this statement can be taken as an offense. “How dare you call me a sinner.” But this is the Word of God and is always true. The universal offer of salvation in Christ Jesus stands against this vital truth – every single human being is need of a savior. To understand that I am a sinner opens the door for the good news that Jesus took my sin from me. And indeed He did. He died for my sin, and yours too, and rose again from the dead. He is alive today and still in the business of saving sinners. Good news!
