Good morning!
Text: Romans 12-13; Proverbs 22:1-16.
Wow! So much content here from God’s Word.
Romans 13:12 is my catch of the day;
“The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
Paul, in chapters 12 and 13, has been exhorting believers to live the life to which we have been called. This verse reminds us that all the world around us is temporary, and the end is near. The world is filled with evil, grief, sorrow, tears and death. There is malice, deceit, theft, violence and betrayal. We live in a land of darkness. It is nighttime. But – the dawn is upon us! Jesus has come and established a kingdom presence in His own people (that would be us), right here on earth. And He will come again soon and bring the light everlasting. The night will be over, the day will blaze and we will be engulfed in joy, peace and victory.
So, are we ready? Are we living as those who have risen early for the new day? Or are we living as those who are still awake from the carousing of the night before? We are to “cast off” the old and “put on the new” – in this case, the “armor of light.” What beautiful imagery. The good guys are winning. Evil is falling. Hope is now. Hallelujah!
in Him, Mike
