Good morning!

Today is a reflection day.
Some years ago I took my car to a repair shop.  The proprietor had these words posted over the garage door:

Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God. (Proverbs 30:8-9)

Just seeing those words made me trust the mechanic.  This two-fold prayer asks the Lord for good character and also asks for the Lord to provide the circumstances conducive to good character. The contentment found in a temperate life is key – “give me neither poverty nor riches…”  As I ponder these words, I find myself wondering about my own character.  It is God that brings us good character.  May we lean into Him and grow in character.
