Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
The story of David and Goliath is familiar. As David approaches the giant, Goliath taunts him:
Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (1 Samuel 17:45)
The centerpiece of the whole story is the faith of David – measured in knowing who God is, knowing His power, His presence and His faithfulness to keep His every promise. When David claims to have come in “then name of the Lord of hosts,” he is claiming all that God is and connecting the Lord’s power and will to his life.
So, how about us this day? What giants are you facing? In the face of challenges do you feel small and weak? No matter, because the Lord of all the angel armies loves you, has saved you, adopted you and filled you with the Holy Spirit. You can claim the Name of the Lord God Almighty. Grasp and hold on to this truth, and all your giants will fall. As we sing, “There is Power in The Name”.
in Him, Mike
