Good morning!

Text: Luke 19  (Numbers 7-8)
Each of the Gospels contain a verse that scholars point to as the key to that Gospel author’s theme. In Luke, it is 19:10 –

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Jesus lived, died, rose again, ascended into heaven, and He is there right now.  He has promised to come back, but He is not here yet.  In our life as followers of Jesus we must always remember that we are part of the Body of Christ. We are His hands, eyes, feet, and voice here on earth.  As followers of Jesus, our task here on earth is to continue His mission – “to seek and to save the lost.”  This is the main thing.  So, in our life today, are lost people the main thing?  Do we seek after them… to meet and befriend them?  Is their salvation our biggest priority?  If not, then what is?  I recently came across these words in the mission statement of a new church in Connecticut; “We will regularly and unashamedly sacrifice the comfort of our members for the opportunity to reach those far from God.”  Wow.

I am moved to pray for the lost people in my life.  I am moved to pray that I might have more lost people in my life.  I am moved to pray that I would be willing to make sacrifices that they might be saved.  I pray that our mission would be Jesus’ mission.  Especially in this present trial, the pandemic.
