Text: Mark 13 (Exodus 31-32)
In Mark 13 Jesus speaks of the end of things when judgment comes and God ushers in a new a beautiful eternal Kingdom. In His speech, He says these words:
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” (Mark 13:31)
It has been said that besides God, there are two things that are eternal – the Word of God and the souls of people. It is the Word that brings us the gift of eternal life. The Word of God we have today is constant and reliable, never changing and steadfast. Human cultures and philosophies come and go, the ways of seeing things and thinking are fluid and ever changing, but God’s Word is a steady rock. The fact that God’s Word, this ancient truth, is the only and proper truth offends the ideas of a progressive and ever-modernizing society like our own. What a privilege we have to hold the ancient Word, the Word of truth, the Word of life. May we never waver or stray.
