Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
In my Bible, the title page of Acts has a subtitle – “The Acts of the Apostles” – as it chronicles the work God does through the apostles to establish the Church. But, I prefer to think that a better subtitle would be “The Acts of the Holy Spirit”, as the real actor is the Spirit of God working through and among the early Church. A key verse is Acts 1:8 which says in part,
“…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”
It is by the power of the Spirit that people come to know Jesus, that miracles of healing come, that the Word of God is made clear in its proclamation, and that we are changed. And that same Spirit is ours, along with all His power. Are you feeling a bit weak today? Powerless? Actually, you are if you are acting alone. But you are not alone. If you are in Christ, the Spirit and all His power are yours. For my day today, I need to be reminded of this truth.
in Him, Mike
