Text: Ezekiel 43-45; Psalm 133-134
Psalm 133 begins with these words:
Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!
Do we dwell in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ? To do so is “good and pleasant.” Jesus tells us that our unity is vital (John 17:20-21). We know that there are things in the church family that cause disagreements – worship styles, ministry programmatic choices, priorities, budgets and such. Disagreements will and should come and go as we are all different, and the church is supposed to be all about growth and change. But unity is essential.
Unity and agreement are not necessarily the same. Unity means we are one. Unity means we cannot be broken apart. Unity means we will never divide. Disagree? Yes, we will. But always together as one. All that said, we must pray for unity and pray for every disagreement to be resolved together as one.
