Good morning!

Text:  Psalms 136-138

On this Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, Psalm 136 is a perfect fit.  The Psalm opens with words that repeat many times in this hymn of thanks:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1)

In fact the words, “for his steadfast love endures forever” repeat in every one of the twenty-six verses.  All that we have, all that we are, all that we hope for, all things emanate from the character of our God.  He is good.  And they all come in the context of a relationship – He loves us.  And that love is steadfast, enduring forever.  Because of God’s good character and everlasting love, our blessings will continue forever.  And so shall our thanks.  Something to note is the commandment here to “give thanks.”  Thanks giving is an action, not a feeling.  So, speak to God.  Tell Him out loud, “Thank you, Lord!”

in Him, Mike
