Good morning!
Text: 1 Peter 3 (Job 7-8)
Sometimes, it seems like the powers of darkness just constantly attack, disrupt, confuse and rob our lives of joy. It can feel like we are being buffeted about, helplessly lost to dangerous forces. Not so! In 1 Peter 3:22, we are reminded that Jesus is alive, where He is, and of the power He has. It says,
…Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.
The “right hand of God” is the seat of power and authority. In the heavenlies, all the angels (created spirit beings, including fallen ones – demons), authorities and powers (the spirit world has hierarchy, so there are bosses) have been subjected to Jesus. That means our King and Lord is in command of all in the unseen realm that can influence or afflict us, as well as all that can bless and minister to us. Now… for that to sound like a good deal, one has to believe in the unseen realm, and I most certainly do.
This reality – that Jesus already rules the unseen realm – certainly brings into focus our need for prayer, and also our invocation of Jesus’ Name when we pray. Amen!
in Him, Mike
