Text: Hebrews 11 (Nehemiah 11-12)
Hebrews 11 is called the “faith” chapter in the Bible, and includes a “faith hall of fame.” It opens with this simple definition of “faith”:
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
In other words, faith is knowing that the things we have been told by God form our hope – future and wonderful things are assured. They are reality. The fact that Jesus will return is reality. So is the resurrection to come and the beautiful and perfect heavenly Kingdom of our forevermore. These things are assured. They are real. And so are the things we cannot see today, like the reality and presence of God’s Holy Spirit and His present heavenly realm. Faith is not imagining, nor is it wishing. Faith is knowing. So… do you know?
