Text: Hebrews 8 (Nehemiah 5-6)
The Book of Hebrews builds a theological bridge between the Old Testament life of the Jews and the new covenant that Jesus inaugurated. In today’s reading, the author of Hebrews quotes the prophet Jeremiah…
“…and I will remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12
When Jesus died for sin, He died for all sin. He is the “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” When we put our trust in Him, that truth is applied to our lives and to all our sins. Our great God puts our sins away. He remembers them “no more.” For those who are in Christ it is like our sins never happened. Forgive and forget is nigh on impossible for us to do. But in Christ, it is done. What freedom there is in being completely released from guilt, shame and death. Praise Jesus! May we walk in that freedom.
