Text: Hebrews 3; Ezra 5-6
Our houses, our homes, are to be safe places, free from invading evil. This is certainly true of our church family.
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. (Hebrews 3:12-13)
We are warned by Jesus to “judge not” when it comes to people outside the household of God. But, when it comes to our brothers and sisters inside the family, we have a huge responsibility. We are to be ever mindful that there may be those among us who have been deceived and whose hearts may have been hardened by sin. And we are to take action – to pray, to encourage, to exhort, to do whatever it takes to protect our house from invasion. Whenever we see a brother or a sister getting into sin trouble, we are to act. Protecting the hearts in our church family is serious business.
