Text: Psalm 4-6
Once during a Christmas sermon I quipped that all wanted for Christmas was a few days off in a row, warm socks and two nights of good sleep. It is funny how Christmas wishes change with age. I indeed got the days off, the socks, and thanks to the Lord, the good sleep. In Psalm 4:8, His Word says;
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
King David wrote these words in the setting of a life of threats and mortal danger as enemies were chasing him, seeking to take his life. Even in that situation, to know that the Lord is in control and able to keep us safe is enough for peaceful sleep. The next time the stresses of this life conspire to keep me awake at night, I pray that the Lord will remind me of these words. I pray the same for you.
in Him, Mike
